The Cause of Conflict in Relationship
~ J Krishnamurti / A film
Jiddu Krishnamurti (1895-1986) is regarded the world over as one of the great teachers of the 20th century. For nearly sixty years he traveled the world, pointing out to people the need to transform themselves through self-knowledge by being aware of their thoughts and feelings in daily life. The core of his teaching is contained in the statement he made in 1929 when he said, ‘Truth is a pathless land. Man cannot come to it through any organization, through any creed, through any dogma, priest or ritual, not through any philosophical knowledge or psychological technique. He has to find it through the mirror of relationship, through the understanding of the contents of his own mind, through observation and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection.’
This is the first of four films to be shown this year of talks given by Krishnamurti in 1984 at Brockwood Park, Hampshire, collectively titled, Ending of Sorrow Series.

'The object of art is beauty of form…. the object of
     contemplation is beauty beyond form.’
      ~ Titus Burkhardt

Members of the Bleddfa Egg Tempera Painting Group led by Jane Knott present an exhibition of their work. This is varied in the way it is expressed and in subject matter. Some of the artists have painted for years whilst others are relatively new. Before the introduction of oil painting egg tempera emulsion was used as a medium to bind pure ground pigment to a ‘gessoed’ support. We prepare our wood supports, make our gesso and our tempera colours. Sometimes we use gold and silver leaf. Students have found that these preparations offer an outer structure and discipline. The materials of wood, plant fibre, chalk, animal produce and the metals have their own being and evocative beauty at each stage. Meanwhile, in the quiet absorption of these tasks the inner world of the painter can arise, or die down as the case may be. One may then set sail in freedom and at ones own pace. Rather than product being the ultimate goal, process in this journey has been valued in the ‘sharing of a contemplative space’ and the ‘collaborative work’ in being part of a group of individuals who meet regularly to paint alongside each other. It is hoped you will enjoy sharing in something of our journey with us. (See Programme / Regular Events for more information on the Egg Tempera Painting Group).
