15th January 2009 1pm to 5pm Approaches to Landscape Painting Workshops with Moya Davern Thereafter 29th Jan, 12th Feb, 26th Feb, ending 12th Mar. This course will develop skills in picture-making using the landscape as a focus. The course is over 5 afternoons and is sponsored by The School of Education and Life Long Learning at Aberystwyth University. It will equip you with the necessary skills and techniques to make images and paintings on your travels, and to record the essence of the scene without necessarily making a resolved painting. You are advised to take a beginners painting or drawing course before enrolling for this course. Some classes will be taught on location, but the first class will start with holiday photographs as a discussion to focus on compositional techniques. You need to bring along a sketchbook and watercolour paints to the first class. Moya Davern is a highly experienced art tutor teaching a variety of different subjects with a range of mediums. She has two gold and three silver-gilt medals from the RHS for her botanical painting. Cost: £50 (£40 concessionary fee). For further information or to enrol, call 01970 261580 or email: learning@aber.ac.uk quoting Course Code: CF209 Venue: The Hall Barn
