Saturday 2nd to Saturday 23rd
Reflections in Coloured Light
An exhibition of stained glass windows and design by Nicola Hopwood
Reflections imply both the seen and the unseen. They can be a continuous, two-way process between the material (the glass) and the the deep contemplation of a theme, the process enriched by the creative relationships developed during the commissioning process. Nicola Hopwood lives and works in Herefordshire and returns to exhibit at Bleddfa after nearly twenty years. The work on show is mostly recent but also spans this period. www.nicolahopwood.co.uk
Venue: The Old School Gallery   Weds to Suns, 2pm to 5pm

Saturday 2nd   10.30am to 4.30pm
The Way of Unknowing: exploring Christian contemplative consciousness
A study day with Simon Small
This is a day exploring an ancient, but neglected Christian spiritual practice. Contemplation is the art of giving profound attention to the present moment, the only reality there has ever been and so the only place where God may be found. Contemplation offers a Christianity humbled by the mystery and majesty of existence. It does not share the lust for certainty that dominates so many modern expressions of the faith. Instead, it teaches a way of exploration and discovery, through nuturing a new and deeper experience of consciousness. Through being utterly aware of how much it does not know, it can live with generosity and openness alongside other insights into the wonder of existence. Simon Small is an Anglican priest and chaplain to the Abbey House Retreat Centre in Glastonbury, where he seeks to live a contemplative life. He is the author of two books: From the Bottom of the Pond (Circle Books) and Star Pilgrim (O Books / Roundfire Books).
